Getting started

Sign in and start your course

How to sign in for the first time using just your email, find your course, and pick up where you left off — with no password to remember.

Last updated 23 May 2026

Welcome! This guide walks you through signing in for the first time, finding your course, and what to do if anything gets in the way.

What kind of invite did you get?

  • An email saying “You’ve been enrolled in…”? → your organisation has already added you. Click Start Learning in the email and skip to If your organisation enrolled you (email) below.
  • A link from your employer or trainer? → just click it and skip to How sign-in works.
  • A short code (an “enrolment key”)? → head to /learn/enrol and type it in — see the If you only have an enrolment key section below.
  • Nothing yet? → ask the person organising your training for any of the above.

How sign-in works

We don’t use passwords. Every time you sign in, we send you an email with a sign-in link and a 6-digit verification code. Use whichever is easier — clicking the link or typing the code both work.

If you’re new, we create your account automatically when you verify your email — there’s no separate sign-up step.

If your organisation enrolled you (email)

If your manager or training lead added you to a course directly, you’ll get an email from us with the subject “You’ve been enrolled in…”. Your place is already saved — you don’t need a code or a special link.

  1. Open the email and click Start Learning.
  2. On the sign-in page, type the same email address the invite was sent to and click Continue with Email.
  3. We’ll send you a fresh verification email — click the link or type the 6-digit code, as described above.
  4. Your course is already waiting on your dashboard. Click Continue to start.

Tip: if you sign in with a different email address from the one we sent the invite to, you’ll get an empty dashboard because the course is linked to the original address. Just sign out and sign back in with the right one.

If your employer or trainer sent you a link

This is the quickest way in.

  1. Click the link. It takes you to our sign-in page with your course already linked to it — you’ll see a blue panel confirming which course you’re joining.
  2. Type your email address and click Continue with Email.
  3. Open the email we send you (it usually arrives within a minute or two).
  4. Either click the link in the email, or come back to the sign-in page and type in the 6-digit code.
  5. That’s it. The course is added to your account and your dashboard opens.

When you finish

Once you’ve worked through the lessons and passed the end-of-course assessment, your certificate appears under My Certificates in the sidebar. From there you can:

  • View Certificate — opens your certificate on screen. Use your browser’s Print → Save as PDF if you need a file copy.
  • Share Certificate — copies a public verification link you can send to your employer, an inspector, or anyone else who needs to confirm it. They don’t need a Dementia Educators account to see it.

Common questions

I haven’t got my code or email. Check your spam or junk folder first — verification emails sometimes end up there. If you still don’t see it after a couple of minutes, go back to the sign-in page, check your email address is spelt right, and request a new one.

The link in the email has expired. Codes and sign-in links are short-lived for security. Just go back to the sign-in page and request a new one.

I’ve forgotten my password. Good news: there isn’t one. You sign in with a fresh code every time, so there’s nothing to remember and nothing to reset.

My enrolment key doesn’t work. Check with the person who sent it — keys can be regenerated if they’ve been shared too widely, in which case you’ll need the new one.

I still can’t get in. Email support@demed.co.uk and we’ll help.
